BRIAN BRAQUET

Mr. Braquet began his piano studies with Hugh Thompson in Beaumont, Texas.  During his studies,
he participated in the National Guild Auditions for six years, earning "Critic's Circle" each year.  He
also participated in the Music Study Club auditions, earning Superior ratings every year.
In High School, Mr. Braquet competed in the state TMTA piano competition earning 3rd place and
2nd place in two consecutive years in the early 1970's.  At North Texas, Mr. Braquet studied with
Larry Walz.  He won 1st place place in the MTNA State Collegiate Piano Solo Competion in 1973.
In the fall of 1973, Mr. Braquet was awarded the first scholarship to the Maurice Ravel Academie in
St. Jean-de-Luz, France to study with legendary teachers Gaby Casadesus and Philippe Entremont.
Mr. Braquet performed the Schumann Piano Concerto with the Bayonne Symphony Orchestra at
the completion of his studies in France.

He once again won the TMTA Texas Collegiate Piano Competition in 1976 (and after winning the
regional competition) progressed to the national competition.  The culmination of Mr. Braquet's
undergraduate education came with his Senior Recital, where he performed the Bach Goldberg
Variations and the Rachmaninoff Preludes, Op. 23.   Mr. Braquet gave a benefit concert at the Brown
Center in Orange, Texas in 1978 performing the Rachmaninoff Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini.

Brian married his high school sweetheart (Dianna Montalbano) on December 26, 1975.  They have
been married for 33 years, and have three grown "children" (Liz, Katie and Brian), as well as a
granddaughter (Bailey).  Mr. Braquet is the Director of Music at the Cathedral of the Immaculate
Conception in Tyler, and teaches private piano lessons in his home.
