PHILOSOPHY
Like the Suzuki philosophy, Mrs. Davis believes every student is able to learn, and they should be
taught in a loving, positive environment. Lessons at the Shelly Davis Piano Studio include many
"kid-friendly" incentives including fun music, theory games, and piano parties.
In addition to learning traditional piano literature and participating in standard activities, many
students of SDPS are budding church musicians and are already accompanying their youth praise
and worship bands at their local church.
Studies have shown that making music enhances a student's ability to process other information
useful to their academic studies. Making music also enhances a student's confidence and
self-esteem. These students may never grace the stage of Carnegie Hall, but they will learn to
interpret and create beautiful music on their own, and gain a love for music as well as pride and
self-confidence along the way.
