EAST TEXAS MUSIC TEACHERS' ASSOCIATION
2010  TEACHER-AWARDS NOMINEES
EAST TEXAS MUSIC TEACHERS'
ASSOCIATION
On behalf of the East Texas Music Teachers Association, please accept my nomination of Mr. David
Lee for the TMTA Teacher of the Year Award for 2010.
Mr. Lee received his formal music education from Stephen F. Austin University having studied
under Dr. Andrew Parr, and accompnaying with Dr. Ron Petti.  While at SFA, Mr. Lee received the
Mamie Middlebrook Music Award in 2001, 2002, and 2003 for potential to succeed in the future in
piano.  In December 2005, David completed his Bachelors of Music degree at Stephen F. Austin
University in performance and piano pedagogy.
I am proud to inform you that David received his primary piano education from former
Tyler MTA member, Mrs. Francis Huff, and current ETMTA member, Mrs. Helen Elbert.  Since joining
our association in 2006, David Lee has been a faithful member and active participant.  It is quite an
honor to have a former ETMTA student now serving as an ETMTA teacher and officer.
Mr. Lee's students are active in many ETMTA events including the annual Fall Festival and
Achievement Auditions.  His students also participate in the Texas Music Teachers Association
theory test.
I proudly nominate David Lee for TMTA Teacher of the Year.

Affiliate Chair and, currently, our local chair for the TMTA Publication Competition.
As a young piano student, Laura was able to participate in many TMTA Student Affiliate activities
through the Midland MTA, such as piano solo competition, concerto competition, and ensemble
team.  It is exciting to see this former student affiliate participant now passing the TMTA tradition on
to the next generation of musicians.
While she continued her piano studies at the University of Texas, Austin and Texas Christian
University, Ms. Bozeman also perpetuated a love of music through her directorship and hosting of
the "Music of the Masters" radio program on KTCU radio.
I proudly nominate Laura Bozeman for TMTA Pre-Collegiate Teacher of the Year.

are also active in the TMTA Student Affiliate theory test, All-Star Festival, and Convention ensemble
teams.
In addition to being a cornerstone of ETMTA since its inception, Mrs. Wilkins is also paving the way
to the future having recently completed her Nationally Certified Teacher of Music in Piano without
her ETMTA might never have come into being.  Without her guidance and leadership we would not
be the strong group that we are today.
I proudly nominate Judy Wilkins for TMTA Collegiate Teacher of the Year.
